The vision

JOYNN grew out of a practical question: how do we make transparency and social impact part of everyday practice in product chains?

  • Change the product chain, not just the product.
  • Transparency as the starting point, not a marketing layer.
  • Social impact built into the business model.
  • Responsibility shared by the whole product chain.
  • Practical, scalable and future-proof.
  • Transparency in a single scan.

2

The market is changing

Product chains are on the eve of major change. Transparency is less and less an ambition and more and more a requirement.

  • Transparency in product chains is becoming mandatory.
  • Brands and manufacturers must disclose product identification, composition and materials, origin and production, environmental footprint, durability and circularity, and certifications.
  • Many parties are still looking for a workable solution.

Introducing JOYNN

JOYNN is the product label focused on transparency, circularity and social impact. The label connects sustainable production with the people who buy and wear the products.

JOYNN helps customers who are looking for sustainable products and want to actively contribute to a circular economy. To make that possible, JOYNN connects the most sustainable producers directly with its customers.

JOYNN has developed an index that shows how sustainable products and producers really are. JOYNN also offers services that make the move to a circular economy possible.

The products are fully transparent and linked to social impact programmes, through which JOYNN invests in future generations. JOYNN wants to inspire customers to take on the challenge of a circular economy together.

From every product with a JOYNN product label, 2% goes to the social impact programmes. You can follow the impact of your purchase through the QR code on the product.

The problem in the product chain

The challenges around sustainable products are not only in the product itself, but mainly in how the product chain is organised. There are many initiatives to improve this, but most remain isolated and temporary.

  • Product chains are often complex and opaque.
  • Strong price pressure leads to a focus on the lowest cost, low margins for producers and little room for improvement.
  • Social and environmental abuses are often a result of how the product chain is organised.
  • Certifications are often separate from the product itself.
  • Many initiatives are temporary, project-based and hard to scale.
  • They depend on subsidies or donations.
  • There is no structural link between sales and impact.

What sets JOYNN apart is not good intentions, but the way impact is built into the chain: no donations or separate funds, but a contribution that grows with every order.

5

Follow the money

At JOYNN, circularity and social impact are not abstract ideas. The money behind every product is transparent and directly linked to social programmes.

  • Every product ordered through JOYNN receives a JOYNN label.
  • For every product, a fixed 2% of the purchase value goes to Scholarship and Healthcare.
  • That contribution is structural and fully transparent.
  • The JOYNN margin supports the JOYNN Academy, the Community programme and the platform.
  • The label shows where the money goes and what it is used for.

Worked example

Purchase from the manufacturer€10,000
JOYNN product label (2%)€200
Import service (optional, 10%)€1,000
Transport and import dutiesDepends on product, country and transport
To Scholarship and Healthcare€200

The 2% label contribution goes entirely to the impact programmes. If you import yourself or order through a retailer, you do not need the import service.

The organisation

JOYNN believes real change is only possible with new solutions: a model that connects and strengthens the product chain.

The JOYNN operating company is not a non-profit. Developing, maintaining and growing the platform requires a healthy revenue model. We are open about our income, costs and choices, and our share is always proportionate to the impact we make possible.

Transparency therefore applies not only to products and product chains, but to JOYNN itself. That is why the JOYNN association sits above the company.

The role of the association

  • Anyone who supports the mission can join as an individual member.
  • Members have a democratic voice in how JOYNN develops.
  • Membership grows the movement and increases its influence on product chains.
  • Membership income is kept separate from the impact contributions from the product label. That prevents conflicts of interest.
  • Members see the money flows and vote on important topics.
  • The resources speed up initiatives such as the Manufacturers Hubs, the JOYNN Academy and Community projects.

Start local, scale worldwide

JOYNN started in one region, with a model deliberately designed to scale.

  • Started in Sialkot (Pakistan) as the first practical case.
  • Proven in cooperation with local manufacturers.
  • One system, applicable to other regions and product groups.
  • Scalable without losing transparency.
  • Local social impact, applicable worldwide.
