Purpose

The association exists so that the direction of JOYNN is not set by customers alone. Members keep the public purpose in view: transparent products, from design to the person using them, with textiles as a large part, and contributions to impact programmes.

How members influence the direction

Members vote. They are consulted on the direction. The board is drawn from that membership and answers to it. Influence is personal: it is the member who votes, not their employer.

Governance

The operating company runs the platform. The association sits above it. Member groups, such as member, council, board or honorary member, decide what a person can see and do. Those groups are roles on the association, not separate companies.

Yearly report

Each year the association reports on contributions to impact programmes. The report is part of the accountability to members, next to the vote and the consultation.

The member count and the contributions to impact programmes are published from the association's own records, so the page does not keep a hand-typed number.

What JOYNN stands for

The 10 JOYNN values

Ten values on which the association and the platform are built.

  1. Independence

JOYNN is an independent, transparent and democratic organisation. With manufacturers, it works on sustainability, circular products and social impact, using the JOYNN Index and a transparent product label.

  2. Responsibility

In today's supply chain, nobody takes responsibility for a product, least of all at the end of its life. The cost of waste and environmental damage ends up with society. JOYNN brings that responsibility back into the chain.

  3. The new generation

The future belongs to children, and we carry a great responsibility for their well-being. JOYNN invests in them through programmes for education, healthcare and the community.

  4. Stimulating start-ups

Young entrepreneurs with good ideas can shape the new economy. The platform gives them room for creativity and entrepreneurship.

  5. The supply chain

Circular products that do not harm people or the environment can only be made together. The linear model in the supply chain no longer works. JOYNN helps, starting with the manufacturers.

  6. Creating social impact

Impact works when it is thoughtful and meaningful. Especially with initiatives for children, customers are glad to contribute, because they see the difference it makes for young people and their community.

  7. A circular platform

Anyone who wants to choose sustainably and responsibly finds manufacturers on JOYNN who produce ethically and with care for the environment. JOYNN wants to raise awareness and also change the supply chain itself.

  8. Product life

Most products end up in landfill or an incinerator. From the design stage, it should be clear how a product fits into a circular economy: reused, recycled or given a new purpose.

  9. The JOYNN Index

How sustainable a product really is shows in its score on the index. That score gives manufacturers a reason to improve, and encourages responsible production.

  10. Transparency

With the QR code on the product, customers follow the journey of what they bought, and see which impact programmes are linked to it and what they achieve locally.
